A family tradition for 3 generations.
We have 40 acres of native prairie and 20 acres of diversified forest. This came to be in 2012 when Daniel's father put those acres in a Federal Wildlife Easement, protecting them from Big Ag forever. This means it can never be tilled but we can hay it. The prairie is a site to behold in the Summer. There are over 75 different forbes and grasses that were planted.
Daniel's grandfather put part of his farm in the same sort of easement many decades ago and the government still harvests seeds from that farm to seed prairie re-establishment in central Minnesota.
We shall continue the family tradition of protecting and preserving nature to the best of our abilities for the rest of our lives. May it continue long after we are gone.
