A family tradition for 3 generations.
We manage over 80 acres of native prairie and forest residing in a permanent Fish and Wildlife Easement. These wild lands will never been tilled, built upon or cleared. This came to be in 2012 when Daniel's father put those acres in a Federal Wildlife Easement, protecting them from Big Ag forever. This means it can never be tilled again. The prairie is a site to behold in the Summer! There are over 75 different forbs and grasses that have been re-established.
Daniel's paternal grandfather put part of his farm in the same sort of easement many decades ago and the government still harvests seeds from that farm to seed prairie re-establishment in central Minnesota. His maternal grandfather gave his parents the down payment so they could buy the farm in 1966.
We are continuing the family tradition of protecting and preserving nature to the best of our abilities for the rest of our lives. May it continue long after we are gone.
